The Power of Letting Go

Giving ourselves permission to release the past when it is no longer serving us in the present

As I reflect on my own spiritual journey, spanning well over a decade now, I realize that much of my growth has stemmed from embracing this mantra. It’s about granting ourselves permission to sift through the accumulation of our lived experiences, extracting the lessons they hold, and then, crucially, releasing the grip of those lessons when they no longer serve us.

But what exactly are these patterns of thought that we carry with us? They’re like invisible threads woven into the fabric of our consciousness, shaped by our beliefs, experiences, and perceptions of the world. Often, when trauma strikes, these threads become tangled, distorting our view of reality and fostering beliefs that no longer align with love and wholeness.

Consider, as an example, the pervasive myth that women can’t get along with other women, a narrative ingrained in many of us (in ways subtle and in ways more overt) from a young age. Perhaps as a woman, you’ve experienced betrayal or…
