Beyond the Mask

Reclaiming ourselves and rebuilding our world post-pandemic

The year 2020 is sliding into our rearview mirror collectively, yet its echoes still acutely reverberate in our lives. The pandemic wasn’t just a health crisis; it was a stark mirror reflecting our vulnerabilities and forcing us to confront the fragility of life itself. We’re not “okay” yet, not by a long shot.

If we’re being real, the pandemic’s long shadow still hangs over us, doesn’t it? We grapple with the lingering health nightmare of long Covid, its unpredictable symptoms and autoimmune disorders continuing to wreak havoc on lives. Navigating the workplace these days feels like tiptoeing across a minefield — the unspoken tension of “quiet quitting” where employees do the bare minimum, and the looming threat of being “quietly fired” through subtle, demoralizing tactics. Meanwhile, inflation cuts deep into our pockets, corporations rake in record profits, yet the fight for a livable wage goes nowhere. There’s a palpable unease in the air, a sense of injustice, frustration, anger and exhaustion that lingers long after the lockdowns have ended.
